PELLA -- Armour Van Wyk, 80, of Pella died Sunday, Nov. 7, in McAllen, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church in Pella with the Rev. Ross Davidson and Chris Piersma officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Pella. Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be held today after 3 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Mission Walk International.

The son of Will D. and Nellie (Bruxvoort) Van Wyk, he was born Oct. 7, 1924, on a farm in rural Sully. On Jan. 15, 1948, he married Carolyn Veldhuizen in Oskaloosa. The family farmed for 10 years before he started working for Pella Corporation. He retired in December 1986 after working there for 28 years. Since then, he and his wife have spent winters in Alamo, Texas. He enjoyed helping his brother work on antique tractors while living in Pella in the summer.

Survivors include his wife; five children and their spouses, Gary and Jeanette Van Wyk, Wes and Connie Van Wyk, Ruth and Ron Hulleman, Arlan and Jane Van Wyk and Judy and Steve Kleidosty, all of Pella; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Elvin and Betty Van Wyk; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Mae and Herman Van Mersbergen and Gerdena and Charles Stursma, all of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Delmer, Wallace, Dennis and Norman; and an infant sister, Nella Ruth.
