GRINNELL -- Hollis H. Elliott, 86, of Grinnell died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. Don Johnston, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell, officiating. Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery in Jasper County.

Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Calvary Baptist Church.

The son of Homer R. and Ethel Mae (Nutt) Elliott, he was born Dec. 2, 1918, in Kellogg. He was raised in the Rock Creek area in Jasper County and attended rural school near his home. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served with the 133rd Infantry, 34th Division in the European Theatre during World War II and was a former POW. On April 5, 1947, he married Addie McDowell in Marengo, and the couple made their home in the Grinnell area. He farmed in Jasper County for many years and was a supervisor at Maytag Company. He retired in 1980. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Addie of Grinnell; two daughters, Vickie Henderson and Ginny Hall, both of Lake Ponderosa; one son, Richard Elliott of Kellogg; three step-sons, Laird Deppe of Kellogg, Charles Deppe of Jewell and Gerald Deppe of Texas; one sister, Dorothy Sisco of Grinnell; three brothers, Kenneth Elliott and Paul Elliott, both of Grinnell, and Delbert Elliott of Orlando, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marjorie Huff; one brother, Raymond Elliott; and one grandson.
