Mabel Daniels
March 29, 1931 - November 29, 2018

Mabel Daniels, 87, of Beacon, Iowa, and formerly of Newton, Iowa peacefully passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 29, 2018, while being cared for at Mercy Hospice in Newton, Iowa, after a valiantly fought battle with cancer. She was born March 29, 1931, in Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of Alfert and Violet Moore Bunnell. She attended Delta High School. Following high school, Mabel was married to Robert Ankeney, and to this union three children were born, Carolyn, David, and Daniel. Mabel and Robert divorced in 1964. She was united in marriage to Eugene Daniels on December 20, 1975, in Oskaloosa. She worked various places including JC Penney, Hy-Vee, American Greeting Cards, and spent time selling Avon. Beacon was Mabels home for over 45 years and was very active in her community and served a term as a member of the city council. She was passionate about the Keo-Mah Genealogical Society where she served as Secretary, Treasurer, Librarian, Newsletter Editor, and President of the society. She was an avid bowler and helped found the Oskaloosa 600 Club. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Newton and the American Legion Auxiliary in Oskaloosa. She was also a member of the First Methodist Church in Newton. Mabel was always full of life and was loved greatly by her family and friends.

Her family includes her two children, Carolyn (David) Cupples of Newton, David (Mary Lou) Ankeney of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a daughter in law (Daniels widow), Cheryl Ankeney of Norfolk, Nebraska; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene Daniels, a son Daniel, and her seven siblings.

A memorial service and burial are planned for the spring in Beacon Cemetery. As was her wish her body has been cremated. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given in her name to the Keo-Mah Genealogical Society. ~ The Oskaloosa Herald, Oskaloosa, Iowa 01 Dec 2018.
