Ed Troop, 76, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Newton, passed Sept. 10, 2018, in Olathe.

His 40-year career in the telecom industry began in Tipton, with United Telephone of Iowa as a lineman. He held many positions with United which included service center manager in Newton for several years and director of operations in Scottsbluff, Neb., before transferring to the Kansas City area. Ed retired in 2002

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Ed served two years aboard the USS Enterprise CVAN-65. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News 10 Sept 2018.
