Services For Earl Beals Held Tues.
Earl Beals, 65, a lifelong resident of the Colfax area, died Sunday, June 29, 1969, at his home in rural Colfax.
The son of Bert and Mary Baker Beals, he was born Jan. 31, 1904, at Colfax and was a 1923 graduate of Colfax High School.
He was married to Grace Briles on March 11, 1925, at Des Moines.
Survivors are his wife, Grace; a daughter, Mrs. James (Janice) Thompson of Bettendorf; two grandchildren, Mike and Luann Thompson; six sisters, Mrs. Esther Rhone; Mrs. Roscoe (Neva) Maggard and Mrs. Florence Lane, all of Colfax, Mrs. Bessie Brock and Mrs. Nelle Pink of Newton and Mrs. R. E. (Grace) Loynachan of Ira; and two brothers, Arthur and Walter, both of Colfax.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Wayne, his parents and a sister, Bonnie.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 1st at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church at Colfax. The Rev. Laurence Garrett conducted the services.
Miss Eleanor Howell was the organist and Edward J. Gannon, Jr. was the soloist.
The bearers were: William Dunsbergen, Albert Kosmach, Durlyn Lester, Loren Penquite, Raymond Thompson and Max Wallace.
Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Raymond Thompson, Mrs. William Thompson and Mrs. Wayne Wheatcraft.
Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery at Ira.
