Thursday morning our community was saddened by the untimely death of Mrs. Eva Rippy. She had not been well for several days and Mrs. Albert Holtz was staying with her as she was living alone. When Mrs. Holtz arose to look after the fire Thursday morning, she went to Mrs. Rippy’s bed and found her dead. Mrs. Rippy had lived in Ira about 25 years. She taught in the jasper county rural schools for about 20 years and was a very active worker in the church and every organization which was for the betterment of the community, whenever her health would permit. She was a great lover of children and flowers and will be greatly missed among old and young. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Newton. A large number of old friends from Ira attended although the road condition kept a number away who would have liked to attend.
