Many Deaths in Family
Newton – With the drowning of 16-year-old Ed Esmeyer, the family “death list” shows that five out of six children have died within two years.
The boy, who was the son of Barney Esmeyer of this city, met his death while wading in the Skunk river, fifteen miles southeast of here. He stepped in a 12 foot hole. He was visiting his uncle, Alex Laskewitz, a farmer, and had gone to the river to fish
