Mrs. Nancy B. Paschal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex and Martha Cochran, of Guernsey county, Ohio, was born December 2nd, 1832, and died at her home in Colfax Monday, January 21st, 1918, aged 85 years, 1 month and 19 days.
She was united in marriage with Isaac Paschal at Lancaster, Iowa, August 27th, 1857. Her husband passed away October 31, 1915.
To them were born five sons, S. C. of Colfax, H. T. of Nashua, Iowa, C. W. of Bell Plaine, Iowa, F. A. and W. B., the two last named deceased.
The family moved to Jasper county 49 years ago and to Colfax about 35 years ago. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Paschal lived in her own home alone, until last fall, when her son Harry came from Nashua to spend the winter with her.
Besides her three sons, she leaves two brothers, David Cochran of Colfax and William Cochran of Beloit, Kansas, who could not be present at the funeral.
There are six grandchildren and four great grandchildren who survive Mrs. Paschal. She was a life-long member of the Christian church and a charter member of the Eastern Star of Colfax.
The funeral was held at the Christian church at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, in charge of Rev. G. f. Cannom of the Methodist church. The Eastern Star attended and took part in the services.
Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.
