The body of Mrs. Jennie Drew, whose death occurred early in the week at Stillwater, Oklahoma, was brought to the city last night by her daughter, Mrs. Charles Erwin. The funeral was held this afternoon from the Congregational Church, Rev. A. B. Appleby officiating.

Mrs. Erwin left for Oklahoma as soon as possible after the message telling of her critical illness was received but her mother’s death occurred before she arrived at Stillwater. ~ The Newton (Iowa) Daily News, Saturday, March 30, 1907, Page 1, Column 6

Obituary

Jennie C. Woods was born near Dowagiac, Mich., March 11th, 1846. Her parents died during her childhood leaving her with the care and responsibility of younger children, which she faithfully performed.

In the year 1873, June 4th, she was married to Sherman B. Drew in Yorkville, Ill, moving soon to Newton, Jasper County, Iowa, which has been her home ever since, until last August when she went to Oklahoma, hoping that a warmer climate would be beneficial to her health, but the change was not helpful. She passed away at Stillwater, Oklahoma, March 20, 1907. Her husband preceded her in death five years.

She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Grace Ervin of this place; a sister, Mrs. Sarah B. Nichols of Stillwater, Okla.; a brother, John Woods of Dowagiac, Mich.; besides many other relatives and friends to mourn her loss. She had been a member of the Congregation Church for a number of years and a faithful member of the Women’s Relief Corps at this place. She had been in poor health for a number of years, owing to a fall seventeen years ago and death came to her as a happy release from constant suffering, and her prayer was answered. ~ Newton Daily News, 3 Apr 1907.
