Della Mae (Brumbaugh) Ocker, 81, died Jan. 4, 2018. There will be a memorial luncheon to honor her memory at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Prairie City Community Center.

Della Mae (Brumbaugh) Ocker passed away on Jan. 4, 2018 at the age of 81. There will be a memorial luncheon to honor her memory at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at the Prairie City Community Center in Prairie City.
Della was born July 25, 1936 in Ottumwa, to Charles and Alla Maude “Bebe” Brumbaugh. She attended the one room Dahlonega School House through eighth grade, followed by Ottumwa High School for three years, and graduated from Albia High School in 1954. Della attended numerous class reunions and greatly enjoyed visiting old friends at the old school house in Dahlonega.
Della was united in marriage to Gene Ocker on March 28, 1954 in a little farm house in Lockman. He was the greatest love of her life and they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Together they made their home in Prairie City, where Gene is survived of the home. They raised four children, Bud Ocker, Pensacola, Fla.; Roxi Sneller, Rani Dentler, and Geo Johnston, all of Prairie City. Della has seven grandchildren, Jamie (Luke) Haughenbury, Jennie Ulery, Ben (Kate) Ulery, Hollie (Mike) Ralston, Jordan Dentler, Amie Baker and Stacie (Dusty) Johnston; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Della was employed by the State of Iowa for 20 plus years. She also volunteered for the Prairie City Ambulance and worked at the Prairie City News. Della enjoyed camping, music festivals, dancing, collecting/making earrings, and her family.
Della is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alla Maude “Bebe” Brumbaugh, and brothers Tom and Phil Brumbaugh.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
