Murry D. Dougan succumbed to cancer April 3, 2018, at the Comfort House in Pella, surrounded by his loving family. A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21 at the First Christian Church in Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to his wife Dianna Dougan. Johnson Funeral Service has been entrusted with the cremation.
Murry was born Oct. 25, 1946, in Texarkana, Ark., the son of Clinton Curtiss and Willie Marie (Killebrew) Dougan. Murry was a 1965 graduate of Liberty-Eylau High School in Texarkana, Texas. Murry served his country with the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.
On March 5, 1967, Murry was united in marriage to Dianna Lynn Dickerson in Amarillo, Texas. Murry devoted his life to his family, was an avid fisherman, auto mechanic, wood worker and sports enthusiast, a lifetime member of the VFW as well serving on the USPS Employee Union. Over the years, he was employed by Good Year, Pella Corp and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. Murry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma Wright and her husband Billy; brother, Neal Dougan; and grandparents.
Murry is survived by his wife, Dianna of Monroe; brother, Jerry (Sharron) Dougan of Addison, Texas; sister, Judi Dougan of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Lisa (Brent) Hotlsclaw of Baxter; son, Curtiss (Christy) Dougan of Hurst, Texas; son, John (Linda) Dougan of Newton; grandaughter, Annie Dougan; grandson, Liam Dougan; step-grandaughter, Lindsey Howe (Kevin Colungo); step-grandson, Grant Howe; step-great-grandson, Eli Colungo; as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous family friends.
