Wayne Forrest Christy, Jr., 71, of Newton died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
As per Wayne’s requests he has been cremated and there are no services scheduled.
Wayne Forrest Christy, Jr., the son of Wayne F. and Mary Bridges Christy, Sr., was born April 9, 1946, in Louisville, Ky. He graduated from Albia High School in Albia. On Aug. 2, 1969, Wayne was united in marriage with Linda K. Filson in Newton. They were blessed with two daughters, Tillena and Jennifer.
Wayne was a production worker for the Maytag Company in Newton, for 30 years. He was a member of The Des Moines Astronomical Society, Inc. (DMAS) and of VROC. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, photography and deep sky photography. Wayne was a devoted and caring husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend.
Those left to honor Wayne’s memory are his wife, Linda of Newton; two daughters, Tillena Christy and her husband, Tracy Munger of Kellogg and Jennifer Christy of Newton; his granddaughter, Madelyn Aubert of Newton; sister, Vickie (Jim) Summers of Moberly, Mo., and brother, Kevin Christy of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth Christy; and brother, Jon Christy.
