1924 - 2018Virginia went home to be with her Savior on May 28, 2018, at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville.
A time of remembrance and Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2018, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 8290-Hwy F62 East, rural Sully, Iowa, with a private family interment in the Hewitt Cemetery near Galesburg. The Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Virginia's family, Hospice of Central Iowa, or to a charity of your choosing.
Virginia Bell, 94, was born January 20, 1924, near Newton, the daughter of Carroll and Florence (Wheeler) Mateer. She was a graduate of Newton Senior High, Class of 1942. Virginia was employed in the Dean of Students office at Drake University and later was a florist at flower shops.
On November 4, 1954, Virginia and Robert Franklin Bell were united in marriage, and were married for over 56 years. She enjoyed her family and the many good friends she and Bob made over the years. She also enjoyed her cats, crafts, gardening, quilting, traveling and was an artist. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and friend.
Virginia is survived by her and Bob's son and daughter, and daughters-in-law: J. Douglas and Jaci Bell of Reasnor; Barbara McClelland of Knoxville and daughter-in-law Betty Bell of Newton; her three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; and her many good neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Bob on August 3, 2011; her son Ernest Bell; and a brother Norman Mateer. ~ The Pence Reese Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 28 May 2018.
