Mike's funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 22nd at the funeral home.

The family will greet friends immediately following the funeral service with a lunch in the social room at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials in Mike's name (please make checks payable to his son, Mike Mickelson) may be left at the funeral home. If mailing to the funeral home please add, Attn: Mickelson Family on the envelope. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 11 May 2018.

Loren A. “Mike” Mickelson, the son of Ole Bernard and Erma Ruth Dobbe Mickelson was born on May 15, 1945 in St. James, Minnesota.

On January 31, 1964, Mike was united in marriage with Barbara J. Lust in Newton, Iowa. They were blessed with a son, Mike.

Mike was a production worker in assembly for the Maytag Company in Newton, retiring in May of 2003. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton, the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League and UAW Local 997 Retiree’s Union. Mike had lived in Minnesota, Newton, Prairie City and California.

Mike died on Friday, May 11, 2018, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Mickelson in 2012; and a brother in infancy, Delbert.

Those left to honor Mike’s memory are his son, Mike R. (Barb) Mickelson of Newton; brother, Bernard Mickelson of American Fork, Utah; and sister, Marlene (B. Terry) Compton of Teru, Indiana; and brother-in-law, Melvin “Butch” (Jana) Lust of Newton.
