Obituary of Mrs. Joe Shattuck
Letitia Alice Richmond was born in Independence township, Jasper county, Iowa August 15, 1859. Died at her home in Colfax March 31st, 1916, at the age of 56 years 7 months and 15 days.
In 1876 she was united in marriage to H. B. Preston. To this union three children were born, Nora, Gertie and Harry. Harry died in 1895 at the age of seven years. Mr. Preston died October 11, 1900.
Mrs. Preston was married to Joseph Shattuck June 6, 1905. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, Mr. Shattuck, two daughters, Mrs. Nora Sutherland, of Colfax, and Mrs. Gertie Foster, of Carlisle; four grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Marsh, of Des Moines, Mrs. Lovina Haley, of Collins, Mrs. Melissa Brown, of Garland, Wyoming, and Mrs. Martha Loving of South Mansfield, la; four brothers, F. M. Richmond, of Carthage, Mo., Geo. W. Richmond, of Tennessee, A. J. Richmond, of Eugene, Oregon, and J. M. Richmond, of Idaho.
The deceased was converted at the age of seventeen years and maintained her faith in Christ to the end, living that sweet Christian life which made one feel when they met her they were in the presence of a Christian.
Besides her immediate family she leaves a host of friends and relatives.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday conducted by Rev. Brown.
