Sketch of the life of Mrs. Mary J. Graham: She was born in Argyle, Washington county, N.Y., in 1826. She was married at the age of 20 years to Mr. Ralph Nixon, in New York City. In 1826 Mr. Nixon came to Prairie City with the family where he soon after died. In 1868 she was married to Mr. George Graham jr. Late August, being in very poor health, she left her home in Holt County, Mo., and came to this place as she said “to die among her friends.” In early life, she gave her heart to the Savior. From that time to the day of her death she was a member of either the Presbyterian or Congregational church. She was one of the few to organize the Congregational Church of this city. She led an earnest and consistent Christian life, and died trusting in Jesus, who in she had so long meekly followed. One special trait of her character was cheerfulness. Wherever she was there was sunshine. She ever looked on the bright side. She had many warm friends, for with her to be known, was to be loved. Communicated.
