Warren L Jontz
1928 - 2018

Warren went home to be with his Savior on March 23, 2018, at Park Centre Healthcare in Newton.

A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be at a later date, at the Newton First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at the church, following the funeral services, with a lunch and fellowship time. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in the Restland Cemetery, in Baxter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to First Presbyterian Church or to a charity of your choosing, in Warren's name.

Warren L. Jontz, 89, was born December 3, 1928, near Rhodes, Iowa, son of Hugh and Esther (Price) Jontz. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1947. Warren had served his country with the US Army in Atlanta General Depot, during the Korean Conflict.

On June 26, 1951, Macy Jane Kayser and Warren were united in marriage. They were 50 year members of the Congregational Church in Baxter, prior to joining the Newton First Presbyterian Church in 1997. Warren and Macy farmed North of Newton, until they retired. They moved to Newton in 1997, where he enjoyed playing Golf and tennis. He was recognized as a Paul Harris fellow with Rotary International, and loved to go to Rotary meetings in other countries. They spent 20 winters in Palm Springs, and enjoyed the many good friends they made there over the years. One of the great joys of his life was travel and meeting and talking to people. He was truly interested in other cultures and their ways of life. He was able to travel with Macy all over the world. He was proud of their traveling to 51 countries, but said it always made him appreciate home. One of their last trips was cruising around the southern tip of South America, from Valparaiso, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2001.

He was a loving husband and father who always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He was a generous, funny and kind man, who led by example. He always said most people are good, and saw the best in everyone.

Warren is survived by his wife of 66 years, Macy; his daughter Jody McCoy; his nieces and nephews; and many good neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Jerry Jontz; a grandson PFC James Baxter McCoy on April 21, 2009; and a sister Jean Schmidt. Online condolences may be left for the family at: www.pencefh.com. ~ The Pence Reese Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 23 Mar 2018.
