Jan 29, 1932 ~ Mar 8, 2018 (AGE 86)Carol Jean Wilson, 86, of Newton died on Thursday, March 8, 2017, at Nelson Manor. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 12, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Carol, the daughter of Claude and Catherine (Fleiter) McMahon, was born on January 29, 1932 in Charles City, Iowa. She grew up in Newton where she attended school. She later graduated from Holy Name School in Omaha. Carol was united in marriage with Donnell Deane Wilson on February 2, 1951 at Sacred Heart in Newton. Carol was an incredibly hard worker; she worked in the service department at the Maytag Company and also farmed. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge. Carol and Donnell loved to travel and after retirement they lived on a sailboat in the Caribbean for many winters. Later they purchased a home in Panama and wintered there. Carol also enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her family.
Those left to honor Carol’s memory are her husband, Donnell Deane Wilson of Newton; children, Ed Wilson of Arizona and Barb (Carroll) Barr of Newton; grandchildren, Chad Barr of Newton, Heather Bucklin of Des Moines, Ben (Nikki) Barr of Grinnell, Jessica (Mike) Rother of Newton, Kyle (Trista) Wilson of Des Moines, Trisha Wilson, Ryan (Jackie) Wilson of Columbus, Ohio, Kristen (Todd) Breuer of Shell Rock, Kelly Wilson of Des Moines, and Sally Wilson of Arizona; her many great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Stewart of Newton; sister-in-law, Maxine McMahon of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Daniel Wilson; brother, Jim McMahon; and brother-in-law, Dennis Stewart. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 08 Mar 2018.
