William Clark Miller, Sr., of Monroe, Iowa, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on April 17, 2017. He was born on July 3, 1930 to Albert and Anna (Simmering) Miller in Des Moines. On June 12, 1949, he married Maureen Toomey in Des Moines. This June would have marked their 68th wedding anniversary.
William worked and retired from Firestone in Des Moines and later he went into business for himself running a Hawaiian Julep Distributorship until 2003. He enjoyed racing cars at the Knoxville Speedway, and being outdoors especially tending to his yard. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. He lived a full and wonderful life, and he will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Maureen; children, William Jr. (Martha) Miller, Patricia (Ron) Roozeboom, Donna Miller, Julia (Gerald) Alcantar, and Barbara Thompson; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings; 3 nephews, 1 niece; and 1 great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family or your favorite charity.
Burial will be at a later date.
