Mother Goodhue was born of Scotch lineage in South Berwick, Maine, on the 2nd day of February 1811, and died July 18, 1906, having lived a long and useful life of 95 years, 5 months and 16 days.

November 26th, 1826, she married Thomas Warwick, of Boston, Mass., and soon after moved to Baltimore, Maryland, and in the fall of the year 1831 he died, leaving her with two little boys, James and Thomas. At the age of twenty-one she became an active member of the church and one of its sweetest singers. February 4, 1833, she married David Goodhue of Groton, New Hampshire, and had three sons by him, George C., D. D., and E. P. Goodhue.

In the fall of 1853 they sold out and moved in the early spring to the west and bought land near Marengo, Iowa. In 1856 they sold and settled in Jasper County. The two sons by the former marriage are both dead. Thomas, the younger son died while in marine service of the Union Army off the coast of New Orleans. David Goodhue died February 26, 1886. She leaves three sons, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren to mourn her loss. ~ The Newton Daily News, Friday, July 20, 1906, Page 1, Column 5
