Wesley Rhodes 1821-1902

Wesley Rhodes, 82 years old, and for about eight years past a citizen of Colfax, coming here from Marshalltown, died at his home in the west part of town at 10:30 a.m. last Sunday, after an illness of about three weeks, a victim of old age.

Mr. Rhodes was a native of England, but had resided in this country the greater portion of his life. he leaves an aged wife, and has also a brother, Jerry, residing in or near Elmira, New York.

He was in belief of a Spiritualist , and was an honest but very eccentric man, and a good neighbor and citizen.

The Funeral was from the Presbyterian church, Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Stahl, and the remains were interred at Oak Hill.

Transcriber note: This obituary was in a book/journal that my granhdmother kept with obituaries and columns of interest. Her name was Mrs. A. Hull Irwin (Rachel Lamb)
