Mrs. Peter Waters, living 5 miles south of town, near the Norris coal mines, was found lying dead in her garden by her husband and son on coming home from the fields at noon on Monday, June 11. A doctor was called immediately, who pronounced her death due to heart disease.
Mrs. Walter has been a sufferer from heart disease and has experienced several severe attacks, but the sudden nature of her death shocked her friends inexpressibly. She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband and children, who will long mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Waters leaves to mourn her loss besides a husband, four children, Edward, Thomas, Elmer and Mrs. Wagner.
The funeral services were held at the home of the deceased on Wednesday, 2 p.m. and the interment took place in the Vandalia Cemetery. – Prairie City News ~ The Newton Daily News, Thursday, June 14, 1906, Page 1, Column 3
