At Monroe was held the funeral of Cyrus Lyons, who for many years resided about one and one-half miles east of Fairmount, and for a number of years after leaving the farm with his daughter, Miss Mary Lyons, was a resident of Monroe. He was a good Christian man and was respected by all the community. His death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emma Lyons Rice, at Creighton, Neb. His age was about 88 years.

The funeral was held from the Methodist Church at Monroe, of which when living, he was a member, and interment was in the Monroe Cemetery. The remains were accompanied to that city by his son-in-law, Mr. Rice, and his son, Robert Lyons, who resides in Dakota, attended the funeral. The service was in charge of Rev. A. E.
