Yesterday afternoon a few minutes before 4 o’clock Earl French, who has been very ill for seven weeks at his home south of this city, with serious kidney trouble, gave up the brave struggle for life he had made and was at rest. Tho he had not been very well for some time, it was just seven weeks ago last night that he was ill enough to keep his bed.
The funeral will be held at the Palo Alto Church tomorrow. The funeral party will leave the home at 12 o’clock. Rev. E. F. Gillis will have charge of the funeral services, and the interment will be in the Newton Cemetery. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Wednesday, May 16, 1906, Page 1, Column 3
===========================================
Death of Earl French.After seven weeks of sufferings from Bright’s disease, during which time everything in the way of medical skill and tender nursing by loved ones was done to arrest the disease, Earl French passed away about 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Tuesday May 15th, mourned by everybody in the community where all his life has been passed, and where everyone was proud to be called his friend.
Earl was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee French, of Palo Alto Township where he was born on the 31st of September, nearly 31 years ago. Seven years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Della Harris and to them were born two sons and one daughter, Floyd, Cecil and Mildred, who survive him.
Earl’s death removed the first link from the happy family circle composed of parents, four sons and five daughters, those surviving him beside his parents being Messrs. Harry, Vern and Karl French, Mrs. Merritt Charlesworth, Edith, Irene and Mabel French.
The funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock in the U. P. Church of Palo Alto Township, and the interment will be in Newton Cemetery.
Earl was a most exemplary and honorable young man, genial and companionable, and easily made friends of all with whom he came in contact. His sorrowing wife and children, parents, brother and sisters are not without the fullest measure of sympathy in their affliction. ~ Newspaper unnamed.
