Robert J. Hopkins, son of Robert G. and Rachel A. Stanley Hopkins, was born January 2, 1948 in Grinnell, Iowa.

On July 3, 1970 he married Jane E. Nell in Newton, Iowa. He was a laborer for Swift Packing in Marshalltown for 14 years. He had lived in Newton prior to moving to Marshalltown.

Robert died Sunday, July 14, 2002 at Grinnell Regional Hospital. He was 54. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Hopkins, and twin brothers in infancy.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Jane E. Nell; a son, Will Hopkins of Marshalltown; a daughter, Kim Hopkins of Omaha, Nebraska; a step-son, LeRoy Nell of Marshalltown; his mother, Rachel A. Evans of Grinnell; three brothers, Fred "Toby" Petrie of Kellogg, Raymond "Ray" Hopkins of Grinnell and Richard "Joe" Hopkins of Georgetown, Texas; and two sisters, Norma Kay Flora of Des Moines and Dorothy Talbot of Grinnell. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 14 July 2002.
