Colfax, Iowa 50045Ralph Emery Owens, age 87 of Mingo, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will be at Union Chapel Cemetery at a later date. The family will greet friends following the service at a luncheon at the Mingo Community Center. Memorials may be directed to the Mingo Fire Department or the Mingo American Legion. The son of Robert and Creta (Emery) Owens, Ralph was born on April 22, 1930, in Elkhart, Iowa. He attended school in Valeria, Monroe and graduated from Mingo High School. Ralph proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 31, 1951, he was united in marriage to Nelpha N. Nell. Ralph worked at Maytag in Newton and retired after 30+ years. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 997 and belonged to the Mingo American Legion.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Carol Ann (Charlie) Myers, Dennis Owens, and Marvin Owens; three grandchildren, Steve (Jan) Myers, Lisa Myers, and Dave Owens. And five great grandchildren, Jared Myers, Chloe Forck, Justin Myers, Brett Wheatcraft and Grace Owens.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife in 2012, a son in infancy, a sister, Maxine Zachary; three brothers, Robert, Roger and Harold and his beloved dog, Mollie. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa Wed 24 Jan 2018.
