Death of a Jasper County Pioneer

Conrad Baker, one of the early settlers of Jasper County, died at Long Branch, California, on Tuesday, April 20, of neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Baker came to Jasper County in 1853, and lived for a quarter of a century on a farm just north of Greencastle, and but few men were better known through the western part of the county than he. Leaving Greencastle he lived in Des Moines a number of years, and about four years ago he moved to California on account of failing health. He has two sons, Adam and Dan L. Baker, residing in Des Moines.
