Dale Richard Hume, age 82 of Monroe, was promoted to Heaven on Friday, January 19, 2018, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 22, 2018, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe United Methodist Church, Monroe Rec Park or Care Initiatives Hospice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Glenn and Viola June (Banks) Hume, Dale was born on July 9, 1935 in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1954. On November 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Ada Beth Breckenridge in Monroe. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and the Monroe Fire Department. He also belonged to the Monroe Jay-Cees. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his friends. His greatest joy, however, was his grandchildren and attending their events.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Ada Beth; children, Barbara (Ed) Nickelson, Vivian Reeves, and Glen (Dorothy) Hume; 8 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren with one on the way; 2 sisters, Joyce (Donald) Palm and Patricia (Dwayne) Hartz; many other family, friends and his fire department family.

Preceding Dale in death were his grandparents; parents; a sister; Pauline Fales; a grandson, Michael; son-in-law, Steven Reeves; two brothers-in-law, John Fales and Jerry Johnson; a step brother, Richard Lincoln and a step sister, Rosemary Bensen. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Monroe, Iowa 19 Jan 2018.
