Mrs. Capt. M. B. Atwater, a former well known Newton lady, died in Washington City, April 24th. Her husband who died about a year ago, was formerly a lumber dealer in this city, and built the pretty home now occupied by Willis Mann. They were prominent members of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. ~ The Newton Record Thursday, May 18 1899
