John W. VanWyhe of Council Bluffs passed away September 13, 2012. He was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on February 4, 1935 to the late Henry and Fannie (DeHammer) VanWyhe.

In addition to this parents he was preceded in death by his sons, Steven and James VanWyhe; grandson, Scott Crooks.

John is survived by his wife, Shirley (Elrod) VanWyhe; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Brian Lucas, Catherine and Larry Dahl; brother and sister-in-law, Jacob and Avis VanWyhe; sister, JoAnn Sopher; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorial service is Monday 6 p.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church followed by a reception at the church. A second memorial service will be Tuesday 2 p.m. at the Pella United Methodist Church in Pella, Iowa. Final resting place will be in the Griffin Cemetery near Prairie City, Iowa.
