Death of Adah McCalmont Adams

Mrs. Adah McCalmont Adams died at her home in Minneapolis Saturday evening, June 26th, and the remains brought to Newton for interment.

Mrs. Adams was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McCalmont of this city. She was born here Oct. 19, 1863, and grew to womanhood in our midst. She was possessed of those bright winning characteristics, which made her very dear to her many friends.

She was married January 9, 1896 to Mr. Eugene Adams of Minneapolis, in which city she had since made her home. A little son was born to them a few days prior to her death, and although the mother realized that she was leaving her darling little one for a time, she was comforted by the knowledge that kind and loving hands would minister to its comfort.

Mrs. McCalmont was present when her daughter passed away, which was a source of great comfort to both. Mrs. Adams had for some years been a member of the Presbyterian Church having given her heart to God’s service in 1887. The remains were brought to her old home for interment, very appropriate and impressive services being held, conducted by Rev. David Brown of Perry, formerly pastor of the deceased.

The stricken families have the warmest sympathy of all friends. ~ The Newton Record Friday, July 2, 1897
