This morning at 7 o’clock James C. Thompson died at his home six miles northeast of town after a week’s illness of pneumonia. He was born in Buena Vista Township in 1866 and Jasper County has always been his home excepting for a short time that he spent in Portland, Oregon. He was married to Miss Hattie Harland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Harland, south of this city, March 9, 1891. He leaves besides his wife and mother, Mrs. Robert Thompson, a half sister, Mrs. C. Sengfelder of Seattle, Wash. And three brothers, Samuel of this city, Robert residing south of town and Dell of Cairo, Neb.
The funeral will be held at Mt. Zion Church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. ~ The Newton Daily News, Tuesday, March 20, 1906, Page 1, Column 4
