MONROE--Services for Mrs. Earl Raymond [Bernice Elizabeth] Wagner, 59, of Monroe, Iowa since 1932, were today at the First Baptist Church in Monroe, Iowa. The Rev. Wayne K. Anderson, pastor of the church, officiated and burial was in Monroe Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.
Surviving are her widower, owner of Wagner Sand and Gravel co.; a son, Dale Earl, assistant professor of political science at the University of Akron at Akron, Ohio; a daughter, Joyce Eloise Fletcher of Des Moines, a worker for Greater Opportunity; and a grandson, Christopher Fletcher. Also surviving are three brothers, Merle Taylor of Bridgate, Warren Taylor of Prairie City; John Taylor of Swan; and five sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Thornton of Runnells; Mrs. Mary Brown of Knoxville; Mrs. Ann Buckingham of Prairie City; Mrs. Dorothy Kaplum of Long Island, New York; Mrs. Clarince Turnquist of Altoona. She was preceded in death by twin daughters.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of the Capitol City Christian Church of Des Moines, the Iowa State Teachers Association and Today's Club of Monroe. She was a former school teacher. The daughter of Albert and Gertrude Mertens Taylor, she was born Sept. 4, 1910, in Swan and was a 1928 graduate of Swan high school. She attended Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa and was a 1969 graduate of Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. She was married March 19, 1932 in Lancaster, Missouri. Mrs. Wagner died Thursday at her home.
