Mr. Raney Johnson, of the Mingo neighborhood, father of W. S. Johnson of this city, passed away at his home last Saturday morning, after an illness of a week, aged seventy-six years. Funeral services were conducted from the Ashton Chapel by Rev. Williams, of Mingo, on Monday afternoon. Mr. Johnson was well known in Jasper county, having been a resident here since 1863. His sister, Mrs. William Byal, of the same neighborhood passed away but a week before. Mr. Johnson leaves beside his wife one daughter, Miss Ruby and two sons, W. S. and Wallace, also a foster son, Eddie, to whom he has been a father since a child of seven.

Mr. Charley Johnson of Dallas county was here the first of the week to attend the obsequies of his uncle, Raney Johnson at Mingo.
