Paul McGinn
1929 - 2017

Paul B. McGinn, the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Schmitz) McGinn, was born April 22, 1929 in Lovilia, Iowa. Paul served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. On July 7, 1955, Paul was united in marriage with Mary Louise "Marilou" Vieceli in Davenport, Iowa. Paul worked for the Maytag Company in the service department. He retired in 1982 after 36 years of service. Paul was a mushroom hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing cards and billiards and going to the horse races. He also enjoyed his life and friends at Newton Village.

Paul died on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Newton Village Skilled Care. He was 88 years old. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilou, on December 12, 2010; his sisters, Betty Jones, Mildred Richmond and Maxine Lohse and his brothers, Billy, Donald and Pat.

Those left to honor Paul's memory include his daughter, Jeanne Birkenholz of Minnesota his grandsons, Matt (Kelly) Birkenholz and Tony (Erica) Birkenholz; his great grandchildren; his brother, Tommy (Barb) McGinn and a sister-in-law, Virginia McGinn.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11th at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Newton. Friends may also greet the family following the service for lunch at the Pence ~ Reese Tribute Center. Memorials may be designated to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to Newton Village and may be left at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home. ~ The Pence Reese Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa
