LANE E. MCPHEE

1922-2017

Lane E. McPhee, age 95, passed away on October 19, 2017 at home in Solana Beach, California. Lane was born to Arch and Alma McPhee in Kellogg, Iowa on May 31,1922. He graduated with the Kellogg High School Class of 1940. In 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. After training to be an aircraft mechanic, he was sent to England in 1943. He worked on B-24 and B-17 heavy bombers and P-47 fighters and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was discharged and returned to Kellogg in 1945.

In August 1946, he married Martha Ellen Copley, a graduate of the Kellogg High School Class of 1944. Lane graduated from Iowa State College in 1949 at which time they relocated to San Diego, California. Lane became a teacher and taught several subjects in the San Diego school system for 37 years, retiring in 1987 . He is survived by Martha and their four children, Robert, Mary, Thomas and Jane plus 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Lane will be inurned on November 15, 2017 at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.
