Barbara Elaine Snodgrass was born Aug. 7, 1958. She passed away at Pella Regional Health Center Monday, Oct. 23, 2017.

Barbara spent most of her childhood in Newton and was a 1976 graduate of Grinnell Community Senior High School. She went on to attend Missouri Methodist School of Nursing. Most of her life, she worked as a nurse, in St. Joseph, Mo., California and Kansas City. Barbara married Dennis Snodgrass in 1998, and they made their home in Sully. Her biggest interest was her grandkids, with other interests of watching the Kansas City Chiefs, attending music concerts and going to casinos. Barbara was always caring for others and always thought of others first. She was also a volunteer firefighter in Sully. Barbara was at times ornery and had an adventurous spirit but was limited by her health.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dennis; her son, Bart and Sarah German of Kansas City, Mo., and their children Marcus and Roslyn; step-children, Jamie and Shannon Snodgrass of Wellman, Krista and Allan Boehmer of Ankeny, Adam Snodgrass of Olathe, Kan., and Elizabeth Snodgrass of Atlanta, Ga.; father, Dean and Helen Lanser of Newton; mother-in-law, Doris Snodgrass of Sully; biological father, John Peak; brother, John Jr.; and sister, Brenda; siblings, Jeff and Becki Lanser of Cary, N.C., Kimberly and Brian Hood of Des Moines and Debra and Mark Moioffer of Balsam Lake, Wis.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Riley; and her father-in-law, Donovan Snodgrass.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Sully Community Church. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Condolences may be given to the family at gardenchapel.com. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News 25 Oct 2017.
