Robert A. Scarbrough, 62, of Newton died on Sunday, October 15, 2017. A memorial service and full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials in Bob’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Bob, the son of Wilbur Burton and Mary Alyce (Paul) Scarbrough, was born on December 30, 1954 in Newton. He was a lifelong resident of Newton and Kellogg. Bob graduated from Newton High School in 1973 and served his country in the U.S. Army.

Bob was united in marriage with Vicki Munger on December 20, 1974 in Newton. He later received his degree in IT from AIB in Des Moines. Bob worked as an IT tech for Forbes and Iowa Telecom and later in security at Firestone. He was a member of the VFW Post 1655 and enjoyed fly fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Bob is survived by his sisters, Linda (Lonnie) Davies of Newton and Jodi Plaehn of Marshalltown; nieces and nephews, Rhondi Machin, Chad (Tammy) Machin, Robin Ball (Rich Sly), Wendy (Brian) Papelka, Sarah (Donovan) Madole, Jeremy Doran, Chelsie Doran, Alexandria Plaehn, and Elijah Plaehn; his many great nieces and nephews; and his partner, Teresa Schultz and her children, Josh (Donna) Schultz and Amanda Schultz and her eight grandchildren. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 14 Oct 2017.
