Maxine "Micky" Joyce Rozenberg Ward
February 18, 1936 - September 8, 2017

Maxine “Micky” Ward, 81, of Cleveland, the daughter of Dirk and Kathryn Gezel Rozenberg, was born February 18, 1936 in Monroe, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1954. On April 15, 1955, Micky was united in marriage with Jerry Ward. During their 62 years of marriage and moves to several states, she created a strong, loving home environment for their growing family.
Micky will be remembered by family and friends as a caring listener, wise counsel, neighborhood barber, neighborhood vet, and a kind heart. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel important and often said that “God Don’t Make No Junk!”

Micky is affectionately known as “Mimi” to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. After raising her family, she also owned a very successful retail business at multiple locations.

Surrounded by family, Micky passed on September 8 at a local health care facility, after battling cancer for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Wayne Rozenberg.

Those left to honor Micky’s memory include her loving husband, Jerry; sisters Norma (Dean) Honnold of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Barbara Briggs of Cleveland; children, Jeff (Karen) Ward of Soddy Daisy, TN, Lee (Linda) Struble of Rochester, NY, Jodi (Alan) Mullinax of Cleveland, and Joe Ward of Cleveland; grandchildren, Megan Ward, Andy Ward, Nicholas (Lauren) Struble, Andrew (Karen) Struble, Danielle (Marcus) Lane, Tyler Mullinax, Corey Mullinax, Jake Ward, and Carlye West; great-grandchildren, Jimmy Lee Struble, Wesley Struble, and Giulian Lane.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, Sept. 14 at Companion Funeral Home.

Final resting place will be in Newton, Iowa at Newton Union Cemetery where a Remembrance of Life service will be held at a future date.
Her first comment in her final wishes was “Weep not for me as I will always be with you”. Micky will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “Boys and Girls Clubs of Cleveland”.
