Dorothy I (Miller) Tratchel
January 17, 1925 ~ July 21, 2017 (age 92)

A graveside service for Dorothy will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Vandalia Cemetery in Vandalia, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials to the Harmony House in Waterloo can be left at the funeral home.

Dorothy, the daughter of Lowman and Cora (Fleming) Miller, was born January 17, 1925, in Vandalia, Iowa. She attended rural Jasper County Schools and graduated from Runnells High School in 1943. She was united in marriage with Leland Tratchel on September 16, 1943, in Ivy, Iowa. Dorothy worked as an office clerk at The Maytag Company for 31 years before retiring in 1990. She had been a member of the Killduff United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading, cross-stitch, crocheting, and playing cards.

Those left to honor Dorothy’s memory include her son, Jack Tratchel of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Lea (Russell) Ladehoff, Amanda (Corey) McGraw, Jacqulyn Marmion, Todd (JoAnn) Tratchel, and Bret Tratchel; her great-grandchildren: Silas Ladehoff, Lexi and Conner McGraw, and Chelsea, Ashley, and Jeffrey Tratchel; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leland; sons, Lee Tratchel and Carl Tratchel; 5 brothers: Lawrence, Kenneth, Everett, Calvin, and Cecil Miller; and 5 sisters: Viola Wicker, Merle Mahaffey, Sylvia DeReus, Lorene Rosborough, and Anna Parrott. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 21 July 2017.
