Colfax Clipper – John Gregg, a night watchman on the C.R.I. & P. was so badly injured by being struck by the engine attached to No. 1, on Wednesday night of last week, that he died a few hours later. The accident occurred on the large curve one and a half miles east of Colfax. It appears from the evidence before the coroner’s jury that the train was two hours late – that deceased was asleep with his head lying on or near the rail, - that the noise of the train aroused him, and he raised up so as to be struck on the head by the passing train.
He leaves a wife and two children in very destitute circumstances.
