Gary Wayne Williams, son of Sam and Elsie McCumber Williams, was born on August 23, 1945, on a farm near Reasnor, Iowa. He attended country school and graduated from Monroe High School in 1963. Gary served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Iowa in 1972.

On June 23, 1972, Gary was united in marriage with Marcia Ann Dunsbergen at the First Reformed Church in Sully, Iowa. They were blessed with three children--Carrie Joy, Ryan Michael, and Brandon Lee. Following their marriage, they lived in Ames, Des Moines, Newton and Indianola, Iowa. In January of 1987 the family moved to Diamond Bar, CA. Gary passed away peacefully at their home in Diamond Bar on July 17, 2016, following a nine-month battle with cancer.

Those who will cherish his memory are his wife, Marcia, their three children and their spouses, and five grandsons. They and their families are:

Gary is survived by his sister, Betty Hartwell, his stepsister, Carole and her husband Rick Anderson, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene Scarbrough, Marilyn and Melvin Jansen, and Ron and Julie Dunsbergen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Elsie Williams, his step-father, Jack Willis, his sister, Jean Scarbrough, his brother, Sam Williams, and his brother-in-law Bob Hartwell.

At the time of his death, Gary was self-employed as an accountant. He loved building personal relationships with his clients as he helped them with their accounting needs. Gary attended and was active in the Evangelical Free Church of Diamond Bar. He will be remembered for his Christian faith, his hunger to study God’s Word, and his love for teaching adult Bible Studies. Gary enjoyed reading, singing, and playing his ukulele. Gary dearly loved to make people laugh (or groan) at his jokes and puns.

Gary will always be remembered by his family and friends for the unconditional love he had for his wife, his children, his daughters-in-love, and his grandchildren, his kindness and compassion, his smiles and hugs, and his sense of humor. ~ The Van Dyke - Duven Funeral Home, Pella, IA 21 June 2017.
