Miss Emma Schoenfeldt Died Oct. 20th
Miss Emma Emilia Schoenfeldt, 87, longtime resident of Colfax, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1969, at the jasper County Home in Newton where she had resided since Dec. 30, 1966.
Miss Schoenfeldt was the last of her family. She was a retired office worker.
The daughter of Gustav and Wiebke Margaret Kucke Schoenfeldt, she was born August 12, 1882, at Des Moines.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Des Moines.
Miss Schoenfeldt resided at Des Moines and Colfax most of her lifetime. When a young woman she spent two years in Austria as a guest of an uncle, the late General August Elder Von Schoenfeldt.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 22nd at 1:30 p.m. at Walters Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold J. Meyer of Des Moines officiated.
Mrs. Darrold Hunter was the soloist and Miss Eleanor Howell was the organist.
The bearers were Durlyn Lester, Glen Britt, Clyde Brown, LeRoy DeReus, Raymond Zachary and Harold Taylor.
Mrs. Eleanor Zachary and Mrs. June Jolly were in charge of the flowers.
Burial was in Woodland Cemetery at Des Moines.
