Lewis Rader, 80, Of Baxter Area Dies Early Today
Baxter – Lewis Rader, 80, well-known Baxter area farmer, died early this morning at his farm home, 10 miles north of Newton, after a short illness. Mr. Rader had lived his entire life on the Rader family place.
Prayer services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Boyd Funeral Home in Baxter, and funeral services will be at two o’clock at St. John’s Evangelical church. Rev. Burrichter, pastor of St. John’s will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The son of Valentine and Maria Grauer Rader, Mr. Rader was born Dec. 2, 1868, on the family farm. He received his education in the county schools. In 1900 he married Marie Ebert.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical church and was prominent in affairs of the community. He was also a member of the Jasper county Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Pearl, who is a teacher in Waterloo, Fern at home and Mrs. William Stock of Mariposa township; three grandchildren, Jeanette, Paul and Rosemary Stock; one sister, Mrs. Mary Toedt of Laurel and one brother, William Rader of Pasadena, Cal.
