Final Rites Held for Dick Annis
Funeral services for Richard Norman (Dick) Annis, 21, were held Saturday, June 13, 1970, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Charles Wilder, pastor of the church, officiated.
Mrs. Dwight Houghton of Des Moines was the soloist and organist.
The bearers were Bill Annis, Gary Beals, Terry Beals, Fred Cole, Joe Conley and Larry Thomas.
Mrs. Vernon Bucklin, Mrs. Mae Henderson and Mrs. Dean Kletting were in charge of the flowers.
Military rites were conducted by Jones-Willis Post No. 175 of the American Legion.
Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
Dick was drowned Wednesday afternoon, June 10, 1970, while swimming in the Van Dusseldorp Sand and Gravel pit north of Colfax.
The son of Morris Norman and Phyllis Jean Kintz Annis, he was born May 28, 1949, in Colfax.
He graduated from Colfax High School in 1967 and on Dec. 4, 1967, entered the Navy and served until Oct. 1969.
Dick was a member of First Baptist Church in Colfax.
He was employed as a salesman for La Salle University Extension Courses.
Surviving are his parents; a brother, David Lee of Great Lakes, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Donna Jane) Ford of Newton and Nancy Marie Annis at home; and two nephews.
