Baxter – About two weeks ago, Scott S. Sumpter, son of Wm. Sumpter, of this Independence township, while working on the roof of a barn at Platt, S.D., fell to the ground, and sustained internal injuries from which he died three days afterwards. The funeral was held at Kintz church, Rev. J. M. Plumb officiating. The remains were buried in the cemetery adjoining that church. There was a large number of friends present. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon and was under the auspices of Baxter Camp M.W.A., there being thirty-five Woodmen in attendance.
