Gilbert F. Elwood, 69, of Santee, California, a former resident of Monroe, died Sunday, December 19, 1993, in San Diego, California.
Survivors are two sons, Jerry, of Des Moines, and Bud; three daughters, Sherry, Sheila and Cathy, all of Santee, California; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are five sisters, Margaret Bruklander, Dorothy (Mrs. Paul) Renaud of Pella, Luretta Stiernemann of Oskaloosa, Ruth (Mrs. Wayne) Renaud of Tracy and Lois Albee of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nella, in July 1993, a brother Robert, and a sister Martha Ginther.
He served in the Army during World War II, and was stationed in Alaska and the Aleutian islands.
Mr. Elwood was born September 17, 1924, near Knoxville, the son of Thomas and Sarah Beem Elwood.
He resided most of his early life in Monroe, moving to Santee, California in 1957.
He was married to Nella Napier April 7, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky.
