Crocker, Sarah Johnson – 1843-1925

Sarah Johnson was born at Sharon, Medina County, Ohio in 1843 and died at Cedar Falls, April 5th 1925, aged 82 years. She was united in marriage to Daniel Crocker in 1862. The next year they came to the farm near Clyde Clear Creek township, Jasper county, Iowa, where they lived 50 years with the exception of five years in Des Moines. In 1914 they moved to Collins and built a new modern home. Feb. 1915 Mr. C. passed on. The next fall Mrs. C went to Cedar Falls to be near her niece, Mrs. Eliza Wright, who with Miss Matthews cared for in last years. Mr. and Mrs. Crocker united with the Church of Christ in early life under the ministry of Allen Hickey. They gave their home at 1148 24th St. Des Moines to Drake University, and thousands of dollars to Drake, Cotner, Children’s home, etc. They were kind hearted, home loving people who did their work so quietly that few of their friends even knew their benevolences. Rev. A. V. Hart pastor and friend conducted the services at Ashton Chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment in Ashton cemetery beside her husband and little daughter. Prof. and Mrs. Wright and Miss Matthews of Cedar Falls, accompanied the body here for burial.
