Mrs. Dave Borts Died Jan. 20th
Mrs. Dave (Esther Estella) Borts Sr., 60, a resident of the Valeria and Colfax communities since 1925, died Saturday evening, Jan. 20th at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
The daughter of James and Frances Williams Patterson, she was born Dec. 27, 1907, at Dows, Iowa.
She was married to Dave Borts Sr. Jan. 2, 1925 at Des Moines and had resided in the Colfax and Valeria communities since her marriage.
Survivors are her husband, thirteen children, Joe Taylor (Jack) at home; James Hamilton of Colfax, Francis Frederick of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Charles (Esther) Owens of Colfax; Mrs. James (Beverly Jean) Smith of Colfax; Mrs. Floyd (Marjorie) Gorman of Colfax; Mrs. Jack (Bonnie) Good of Colfax; Henry Laurence (Bud) of Colfax: Mrs. George (Marie) Oliver of Newton; Dave Elmer Jr. of Colfax; Billy Dean of Colfax; Jerry Gene of Newton, and Sharon Ann of Colfax, and 32 grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Wendell Patterson of Flushing, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Lillie McCullough of Newton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23rd at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax. The Rev. Hilton Griswold, minister of the First Assembly of God Church at Newton, conducted the services.
Miss Eleanor Howell was the organist and Rev. Hilton Griswold was the soloist.
The bearers were Bill Earles, Myron Faidley, Alex Lewis, W. V. Pierce, Harold Smith and Richard Williams Jr.
Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Selena Burt, Mrs. LeRoy Borts and Mrs. Harry Lewis Sr.
Burial was in the Greencastle Cemetery.
