Arthur Benson of Near Kellogg Dies
Well Known Farmer is Dead After Illness of 10 Days; No Arrangements Made
Kellogg, Dec. 21 – Special to the Newton Daily News – Arthur H. Benson, a farmer living two miles north of Kellogg, died this morning at 8:30 o’clock at his home after a 10 day illness. Heart trouble was given as the cause of his death. He was 57 years old at the time of his death.
Mr. Benson is survived by his wife Mrs. Ida Benson, two daughters, Mrs. Shelby Cooper of Kellogg, and Mrs. Ruth Murphy of Newton and son, Hollis Benson at home. He is also survived by two brothers, Seth Benson of Wesley, Ia., and Fred Benson of Wesley, Ia., and one sister, Mrs. Sadie Ervin of South Dakota and one half-sister, Mrs. I. L. Hinshaw of Kellogg.
No funeral arrangements have been made.

Funeral Services For A. Benson to be Held Tomorrow
Kellogg, Dec. 22 – Special to the Newton Daily News – Funeral services for Arthur Benson will be held tomorrow afternoon at one o’clock at the home located two miles north of Kellogg.
Mr. Benson died yesterday morning at 8:30 o’clock at his home following an illness of 10 days. Heart trouble was given as the cause of his death.

Benson Funeral Services Held
Rites Conducted Yesterday Afternoon at the Home North of Kellogg
Kellogg, Dec. 24 – Special to the Newton Daily News – Funeral services for Arthur Benson were held yesterday afternoon at one o’clock at the home located two miles north of Kellogg and burial was in Our Silent City. The rites were conducted by the Rev. H. H. Fletcher, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Kellogg.
Music was furnished by a male quartet accompanied by Miss Flora Thane Shaw. The selections were “Sweet Bye and Bye,” “Take the Name of Jesus with You” and “Ne’er My God to Thee.”
Pallbearers were Fred Morgan, Roy Rhodes, J. Verwers, W. C. Braley, Simon Anderson and J. E. Craven.
Born Near Kellogg
Arthur Horace Benson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Benson, was born on a farm three and one-half miles north of Kellogg, Feb. 3, 1871. He received his early education in the rural schools. On March 13, 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida May Faircloth and to this union five children were born, three of whom survive.
Survivors
He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Murphy of Newton and Mrs. Shelby Cooper of Kellogg and one son, Hollis Benson at home. He is also survived by two brothers, Seth Benson of Milford, Ia., and Fred Benson of Britt, Ia., and one sister, Mrs. Sadie Ervin of South Dakota and one half brother, William Benson of Grinnell and one half sister, Mrs. I. L. Hinshaw of Kellogg.
Those attending the funeral services from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Benson and daughter Evelyn of Britt, Ia., Seth Benson of Milford, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Harry White of Victor, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Guy Adams of Newton, Mrs. Nancy Sherman of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Nelse Crownsea and son Carol of Grinnell and Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Kennedy of Grinnell.
